Girls Who Surf recommends and sells
NSP and
Southpoint surfboards for beginning to advanced surfers. Call us
for help in assessing what size board is for you. Because it's no
fun when you can't catch waves! If you're a beginner, be
conservative and choose a longboard. It's too hard to learn how to
surf better when you begin on a shortboard. How will you learn how
to turn if you can't even stand up? The best way is to go big and
gradually work your way down to a smaller board if that is your ultimate
goal.
Longboards are great for beginners and
surfers that like to take it easy--laid-back, cruising, and fun-loving
type of surfer. Longboards are very "floaty" which makes it easier
to paddle and catch waves. Good for mellow surf breaks like Waikiki,
White Plains, and similar breaks. (Lymari's choice board!)
Funboards are also good for more higher
energy surfers, surfers transitioning from longboarding to shortboarding,
or surfers looking for a great all-around board. They have more
float like a longboard but go fast like shortboards. Like the name
implies they really are FUN!!! Highly recommended board for
beginning/intermediate to advanced surfers who have stronger paddling
power and quicker pop-ups. (Cherry's choice board!)
Shortboards are great for "hyper" surfers.
These boards are recommended for intermediate to advanced surfers who know
where and when it's going to break. These boards go fast and go big.
Want to pump down the line into a forehand snap off the lip? This is
the board for you. Fish are short and wide shortboards.
